The Canadian Society of Mayflower Descendants has an extensive Mayflower and New England research library to help Canadians in researching their New England and Mayflower lines. The Society has a collection of more than 320 volumes available in the Canadiana Room of the Toronto Public Library’s North York Central branch.
Included in our collection is the complete set of The New England Historical & Genealogical Register, 1847 with a complete index for the years 1847-1994. A generous 2001 bequest enabled us to add the Barbour Collection of Connecticut Vital Records and the Massachusetts vital records on microfiche. We have The Mayflower Descendant, vols. 1-34 on microfiche, and most issues of the Journal published since 1985. We have all current volumes of the silver Mayflower Families Five Generations books, both volumes of the five generation Howland books as well as the pink Mayflower Families in Progress (MFIP) booklets. All of these are in addition to a wide variety of pertinent New England reference books.
Our complete holdings are listed in table format in this Word document: Canadian Society of Mayflower Descendants library catalogue as of September 2014. Check your Microsoft Word or Apple Help applications for instructions on how to sort the document to best suit your research needs. Printing alert: the document is formatted for legal size, landscape and is 47 pages long.
For those who live outside of the Greater Toronto Area, you may request a search of a specific book by Library staff. The Library won’t undertake genealogical research, however staff will do look-ups in specific books and provide copies for a fee. Contact the Library directly at 416-393-7241 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
In addition to the Canadian Society of Mayflower Descendants’ library catalogue, the General Society of Mayflower Descendants also has its own extensive library.
We depend on donations of books and funds and have been fortunate to have the support of our members. If you have research books collecting dust, please consider donating them. We promise to give them a good home! We also welcome financial donations to purchase books. Please contact our librarian if interested in making a donation of any kind.
